Abraham L. Ahner, 80, of Slatington, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, March 11, 2024. He was the husband of JoAnn E. (Rauch) Ahner, whom he married on June 21, 2003. Born in Lehighton on August 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Abraham L. Ahner and Eva (Wisler) Green. Abe was a former Supervisor for Washington Township, before retiring in 2018. Prior to that, he worked as an Independent Trucker for 40 years. Abe was a member of the Slatington Masonic Lodge 440 F& AM, former member of the Slatington Lions Club, and the Rajah Shriners Club. He was a longtime member of the Parryville HOG Club, now known as the Lehigh Valley HOG group, and a lifetime member of the Blue Ridge Rod & Gun Club.

In addition to his wife JoAnn, he is survived by a stepson: Andrew DeSanctis of King of Prussia; stepdaughter: Elizabeth DeSanctis and fiancé Lisa Rarrick of Levittown; grandson: Preston Hengeveld as well as nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Eleanor Rutman.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Abe’s name can be made to the Sanctuary at Haafsville, 901 Nestle Way, Breinigsville PA 18031.
