Alice L. Bender

Alice L. Bender, 100, formerly of Slatington, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Cedarbrook, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Dr. Earl Bender. Born in Bethlehem on September 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mae (Barthold) Reiss. Alice worked as a clerk for the former Hess’ and Leh’s Department Stores in Allentown, and also spent many years as a homemaker / companion. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Slatington and was a former member of the Slatington Women’s Club.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Susan and husband Lee Behler of MI, Linda and husband Robert Mack of Kutztown, Merry and husband James Schlegel of Kutztown; 6 grandsons; 7 great-grandchildren. 

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice’s name are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Slatington.
