Arthur G. Schaeffer

Arthur G. Schaeffer, 86, of Slatington, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Carol A. (Jones) Schaeffer, who passed away in 2000. Born in Slatington on February 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Arthur J. “Specks” and Oneda (Smith) Schaeffer. Art served his country honorably and proudly in the US Army from 1961-1963. He worked for Mack Trucks for many years as a technician. Prior to that, he worked briefly for the former DeFrain Electric in Slatington. Art was a life member of Slatington Skeet Club, the Heidelberg Game Protective Assoc, and the Nis Hollow Hunting Club, while also being a member of the American Legion Post 16, Slatington, and UAW Local 677. 

He will be lovingly remembered by sons: Timothy S. Schaeffer of Slatington, AJ Schaeffer and wife Tiffany of Emerald, Chad Schaeffer and wife Diana of Andreas; daughter: Dr. Megan Roberts and husband Richard of Slatington; grandchildren: Robert, Scott, Cadence, Reagan, Seth, Olivia, Madison, Chase, Charlotte, and Rhys.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd St, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Art’s name can be made to the Slatington Skeet Club, PO Box 162, Slatington PA 18080.
