Austin B. "AMESS"쳌 Messinger, 81 of Walnutport formerly of Slatington died Monday December 24, 2012. He was the husband of Gloria A. (DeLong) Messinger; they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last June. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Henry and Ellen (Cole) Messinger. Austin graduated from the former Hershey Industrial School; know known as the Milton Hershey School. He worked for the American Nickeloid for many years before retiring. Prior to that, he operated a baker's route in the Slatington Area. Austin was an avid fisherman, Cowboys Fan, and enjoyed playing and coaching Baseball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather,.

Survivors: Wife, Daughters; Ellen and husband Keith Neff of Walnutport, Judy Haydt and companion Dave Hedmeck of Slatington. Grandchildren; April Bollinger, and Angela Neff. Great Grandchildren; Ava Janny, Kyle and Brandon Bollinger. He was pre-deceased by his son Austin in 2011, and a brother Harry.

Services: 3:00PM Friday December 28, 2012 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington PA. Calling hour 2-3 PM at the funeral home.
