Barry Diefenderfer

Barry E. Diefenderfer, 71 of Walnutport passed away unexpectedly Friday December 8, 2017 in his home.   He was the husband of Barbara A. (Bird) Diefenderfer; they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past July.  Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Edith (Fritz) Skinner.  Barry was employed with US Security Associates, based at Horsehead Corp, in Palmerton, working as a security guard.  Prior to that, he worked as an operations manager for them.  Before moving to the area, he also worked as a radio disc jockey in both Berkley Springs, WV and Champagne, IL.
Survivors:   Wife; Sons: Duane Diefenderfer and wife Pamela of Fort Royal, VA, Richie Diefenderfer and wife Tammy of Bufort, GA; Daughters: Cheryl and husband Eddie Bonilla of Ashland, PA,  Lori and husband Steve Wiewiorski of Palm Bay, FL; 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Evangeline Eck; Step-brothers: John, David, Earle, and Daniel Skinner.  He was pre-deceased by siblings Kenneth Diefenderfer and Helen Skinner.
Services:  3 P.M. Wednesday December 13, 2017 Harding Funeral Home,  25-27 N. Second St, Slatington PA.  Calling hour 2-3 P.M. at the funeral home.
Contributions:  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
