Bruce F. Follweiler
Bruce F. Cass Follweiler, 79, of Bethlehem died Thursday, February 28, 2013 in his home after a short battle with Acute Leukemia. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Coffin) Follweiler; they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past December. Born in Aquashicola, he was the son of the late Leland J. and Blanche (Green) Follweiler. Bruce was a graduate of Slatington High School, Class of 1951, and served as class president. He was US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. Bruce worked for Bethlehem Steel as Chief of Benefits, retiring after 43 years. He was one of the first inductees into the Northern Lehigh High School Ring of Honor, and was the head statistician for Lehigh University Football games for nearly 40 years. Bruce played in a softball league in the Palmer Township area until the age of 75. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing. Survivors: Wife; son, Brian Follweiler; daughter, Karen and husband, John McCloskey, all of Bethlehem. Grandchildren, Lauren and Paige McCloskey. Sister, June and husband, George Morrow, of Macungie. Brother, Robert L. Follweiler and wife, Jeanette, of Bethlehem. Nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2013 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Calling hour 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville.
