Charlotte D. Roland

Singer of songs. Reader of books. Lover of music and art in all its forms, Charlotte D. Roland, 87, of Slatington passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at The Willow Inspirit Senior Living in Macungie surrounded by her loving family and dedicated caretakers. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Roland II. Born in 1934 in Santa Barbara, CA, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Doris (Weller) Delahaie, naturalized U.S. citizens originally from Germany. Charlotte worked part-time as a teacher’s aide at Northern Lehigh Elementary School for many years while her children were growing up. She retired from Prudential Financial where she worked as an AARP Customer Service Representative for 10+ years. Throughout her life, Charlotte was active in the Lehigh Valley visual and performing arts community as a participant; performing in local plays and musical theatre productions, and later in life as a patron of the arts. She was a member of Assumption B.V.M Catholic Church of Slatington where she was active in the church choir and former guitar group.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters: Mary “Molly” Dennehy, Emmaus; Charlotte M. and husband Charles M. Schmoyer, Slatington; Rachel H. Roland and partner Roger Latzgo, Germansville and sons: Walter J. III and wife Tami Roland, Orefield; Jerome R. and wife Sharon K. Roland, Phoenix, AZ; Matthew P. Roland, West Chester; Timothy J. Roland, Emmaus; Daniel J. and wife Danielle Roland, Daniellsville; 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Sister: Wendy Matthews, San Jose, CA. Charlotte was predeceased by daughters: Patricia A. and Doris E. and sister Suzanne Delahaie.

Memorial Mass on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Assumption B.V.M Catholic Church, 649 West Washington St., Slatington, PA, 18080. Calling hour at the church from 10-11:00 a.m. To keep everyone safe, the Roland family is requesting all in attendance to please wear a facial mask.
