Curtis E. Kistler, 94, a resident of The Palmerton, and formerly of Slatington passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was the husband of the late Delores (Betzler) Kistler for 72 years prior to her passing in 2020. Born in Emaus, he was the son of the late Edwin C. and Lluellan (George) Kistler. Curtis was the last survivor of eight children in the Kistler family. He graduated from Slatington High School in 1946. He worked for General Electric for 37 ½ years as a line leader. He also worked for Black & Decker. He was a lifetime member in the original Slatington Archery Club, a life member and treasurer of the Slatington Skeet Club, and a member of the Palmerton Hunting & Fishing Club. He was president of the Inter-Archery Conference for 20 odd years. He shot his first deer in 1957 and a total of 63 out of 74 deer with the bow. He was active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Slatington, serving on church council and 15 years as a deacon.
He is survived by four daughters: Gail (William) Major of Orlando, FL; Janet Dorshimer of Northampton; Sandra (Charles) Maurer of Slatington; KathySue (Dean) Tschudy of Dover; 10 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church General Fund, 40 S. 2nd Street, Slatington PA 18080.
