David J. Skinner

David J. Skinner, 68, of Slatington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his home.   He was the loving husband of Rhonda L. (Rogers) Skinner, whom he married September 11, 2006.   Born in Allentown on March 15, 1956, he was the son of the late John E. Jr., and Edith V. (Barthol) Skinner.    Dave started his career working for the former Bethlehem Steel, until its closing.    He then decided to further his education and earned his Associate’s Degree in Nursing from LCCC.    For more than 30 years, Dave has worked as a critical care nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital, now known as St. Lukes, Sacred Heart Campus, in various capacities including ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Telemetry Unit, Nursing Supervisor, and currently was working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.   Known as Dr. Dave by many co-workers, he was admired and respected for his quick thinking yet calming demeanor.   

In addition to his wife Rhonda, he will be lovingly remembered by a son: Brian Skinner and wife Gretchen of York, stepson: Jared Maxson and wife Erin Wissink of Ithaca, NY; grandchildren: Amber Skinner, Jamie Maxson; brothers: John Skinner and wife Brenda of Blandon, Earle Skinner and wife Kathy of Whitehall, Daniel Skinner and wife Cheryl of Allentown.

Private family services will be held, no public calling hours.    Due to Dave’s close relationship and love for his pets and all animals, contributions in his memory are suggested to Peaceable Kingdom, 1049 MacArthur Rd, Whitehall PA 18052.  Harding Funeral Home, Slatington is honored to handle Dave’s arrangements.
