Earl F. Hofmann, Sr., 90, of Walnutport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in his home. He was the husband of Janet M. (Achey) Hofmann, whom he married March 18, 1961. Born in Walnutport on July 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Edward and Alverta (Handwerk) Hofmann. Earl served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the United States Army from 1957-1959. He worked in the quality control department for General Electric for more than 29 years before retiring in 1985. Following his retirement from GE, he worked part-time for Hechinger’s and Sam’s Club. He was a member of Christ UCC, Walnutport, the Diamond Fire Co., Walnutport, and the Walnutport Canal Association.
In addition to his wife Janet, he will be lovingly remembered by a daughter: Deena Fital and companion Brian Blose of Lehighton; son: Earl F. Hofmann, Jr., and wife Dawn of Fl; grandchildren: Justin Hofmann, Travis Hofmann and wife April, Alysia Hough and fiancé Danielle, Celina Fital; great-grandchildren: Autumn, Naomi. He was pre-deceased by siblings, Clinton Hofmann, Ernest Hofmann, Alma Andrews, Eva Hofmann.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Ave, Slatington. No calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Earl’s name can be made to either Christ UCC, American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association, c/o the funeral home.
