Elaine Steigerwalt

Elaine A. Steigerwalt, 95, passed away on January 15, 2021 while in the care of Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest Hospice Care.   She was born in Lehighton, PA on December 12, 1925 to Ralph and Florence (Remaley) Harwi.  She graduated from Slatington High School in 1944.  Following graduation Elaine worked for PP&L and later for the family floral business.   She was the wife of the late Wayne A. Steigerwalt for 62 years.   Elaine was a lifetime member of Frieden’s UCC.  She was fond of spending long summer days outside, chatting with family and friends.   During fall and winter, she enjoyed watching high school sports, Penn State football, and Duke basketball.  She was a huge fan of Coach K and the Blue Devils.   Completing crossword puzzles was a daily hobby.   She loved her two grandsons and was especially fond of watching them grow.
Elaine is survived by two sons, Darryl B. Steigerwalt and companion, Roseann Paciotti (Allentown), Cort B. Steigerwalt and wife Audrey (Slatington), and daughter, Karen, wife of John H. Harting (Schnecksville); two grandsons, Austin Steigerwalt (State College, PA) and Jonathan Harting and wife Periann Doko (Wilmington, DE), and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne, and her three brother William E. Harwi, Richard A. Harwi and Robert J. Harwi.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.   Arrangements are under the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.   Contributions can be made to Frieden’s UCC Memorial Fund, 7227 PA Rt 873, Slatington PA 18080.
