Elsie M. Merkle, 97 of Walnutport died Sunday October 24, 2010 in her home. She was the wife of the late Ellsworth P. "Ebbie"쳌 Merkle who died in 1997. Elsie was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie (Acker) Phillips. She was a long time devoted member of Christ UCC, Walnutport where she was involved with the choir and also the women's guild.

Survivors: Sister; Thelma Mollot of Groton, MA. Brother; Ralph Smith of Gilbertsville. Nieces & Nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Edward "Buster"쳌 Phillips, and Frederick Phillips.

Services: Will be held 11:30 AM Friday October 29 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. Calling hours 9:30-11:30 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Indianland Cemetery.

Contributions: Can be made in Elsie's memory to Blue Mountain Adult Day Care Center c/o the funeral home.
