Eugenia M. Pavelco

Eugenia M. “Genie” Pavelco, 76, of Slatington, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.  She was the wife of Leo C. Pavelco, whom she married on October 8, 1983.    Born in Pottstown on March 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Valentine Sr., and Stephanie (Solka) Bartchak.    Genie was a secretary the majority of career, working for IBM, Bethlehem Steel and most recently Lehigh County Courthouse.   She was a faithful member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Slatington.  Genie enjoyed polka dancing with her husband and friends, trips to the casinos and daytime shopping.

In addition to her husband Leo, she will be lovingly remembered by a stepson: James Pavelco and wife Patricia of New Tripoli; stepdaughter: Christine Deiter of Slatington; grandchildren: Daniel Deiter and fiancé Molly Martis, James Pavelco, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Kennedy; brother: James Bartchak and wife Rosemarie of Oley; several nieces & nephews.   She was pre-deceased by siblings, Valentine Bartchak, Jr. and Patricia Stetler. 

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 649 W. Washington Street, Slatington.    Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM at church.    In lieu of flowers, contributions in Genie’s name can be made to the Assumption BVM Memorial Fund or an animal rescue of your choice.
