Gerald L. Benner

Gerald L. Benner, 83, of Slatington, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.    He was the husband of Barbara J. (Nagle) Benner, whom he married December 31, 1960.   Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Dean and Thelma (Boward) Benner.   Jerry was a truck driver for many years, working for several companies including Allen Supply and Crowder Jr.   He was a faithful member of St. John’s UCC, Slatington, and assisted with the weekly bulletins.    Jerry was active with the West End Playground Association, was a former member of the Wheels of Time, Jaycees of Slatington, and the Blue Mountain Fish & Game.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Lisa and husband Thomas Marino, Lori and husband Gregory Harakal, both of Slatington; grandchildren: Thomas Marino, Jr., Jason Marino, Amanda Harakal, Krista Snyder; great-grandchildren: Giovani, Armani, Kallie, Danica, Jay, Zoey.   He was predeceased by siblings, Dalvin Benner, LuRae Weiss.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at St. John’s UCC, 15 S. 2nd Street, Slatington.   Family and friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11AM.   In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the church.   Arrangements are in the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
