Isabel Mantana Wehr Ringer died in her Slatington home at the age of 99 on October 2, 2023. Isabel was born June 29, 1924, the daughter of Ella Mae Snyder Wehr Kunkel and Clayton Wehr. As a result of the divorce of her parents, Isabel and her sisters Louella and Margaret, resided with their grandparents, Nathan Snyder and Ellen Stump Snyder, from a young age while their mother worked at the ‘County Home’ as a cook for the staff. Isabel spent her early years in the village of New Tripoli.
Isabel was a member of the Slatington High School Class of 1944. While in high school, she enjoyed the daily journey to Slatington on the Berksey.
On August 28, 1943, Isabel and Robert Ringer married. Together, along with many members of the Ringer family, Isabel and Robert operated Ringer’s Market until March, 1986.
Isabel and Robert were the parents of two children, Betsy Rauch (Harold) and Robert Ringer Jr. (Carole).
Isabel was a life-long member of St John’s Lutheran Church, Slatington and was active in various church organizations including the Jubilees. She served as the president of the Jubilees for many years and was responsible for organizing many field trips which the members enjoyed. Isabel also became a member of the Eastern Star in 1944, serving as Worthy Matron in 1990-1991. She remained a member until her passing.
Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her mother, Ella Mae Kunkel, her brother, Nevin, her sister Louella and husband Morris Hamm, and her sister Margaret and husband Ralph Wagaman.
She is survived by her children, Betsy and husband Harold and Robert and wife Carole, her grandchildren, James Rauch and wife Heather, Wayne Rauch and wife Stacy, Megan Ringer San Antonio and husband Anthony, John Ringer and wife Camille, and Sarah Ringer and boyfriend Eric. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Justine Rauch Hordyke and husband Jordan, Zachary Rauch and fiancé Ally, Jeremy Rauch and girlfriend Lauren, Lucas Rauch and fiancé Katie, Theodore San Antonio, Clara San Antonio, and Harper Ringer. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Ferreira and husband John.
Services will be held at the Harding Funeral Home 25-27 N. Second Street Slatington, PA on October 14, 2023 with the viewing preceding the service beginning at 10:00 am. Services will begin at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at the Union Cemetery in Slatington.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Slatington Public Library.
