Jane E. Christman

Jane E. Christman, 68, of Schnecksville, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.  She was the wife of Garry H. Christman, whom she married on April 26, 1980.   Born in Allentown on April 25, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Marion (Siegfried) Rex.   Jane was a graduate of Slatington High School, Class of 1974.   She later received her associate’s degree from LCCC in nursing.   Jane spent her whole career working as a Registered Nurse, starting at Cedarbrook, then Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, and retired from Kids Peace as head nurse where she was known as Mama Jane.    Jane was a member of Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville.  A former member of Slatington Borough Council, Jane was the first and youngest woman to serve.     

In addition to her husband Garry, she will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Andrew Christman and wife Lauren of Allentown, Aaron Christman and wife Richelle of Schnecksville; grandchildren: Kensi, Audrianna, Greyson, Alaynah, Cayde, A.J.; brothers: Keith Rex of Fogelsville, Kevin Rex of Walnutport; sisters: Sally and husband Michael Ifkovits of Northampton, Susie Weber of Bowmanstown.   She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Adrienne.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington.   Family and friends may pay their respects from 6 to 8PM on Sunday June 9, and from 10 to 11AM on Monday.   Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.     In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane’s memory can be made to either Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or Shriner’s Children Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St, Philadelphia PA 19140.
