John E. Goodman



John "Jack Goodman was born in Pottsville, PA in 1943 to John F. and Esther Goodman and grew up in Tremont and Pine Grove. He attended Lebanon Valley College and majored in Music Education. Later, he received his master's degree in Educational Media from Temple University. He taught music in the schools of Lykens, Bethlehem and Palmerton and for seventeen years, was Director of the Instructional Materials Service with the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit"?comprised of fourteen school districts. He is probably best known for his organ playing, staging of Broadway-type musicals and choir directing, in churches, schools theaters and auditoriums throughout our area. For over sixty years, he served churches in Harrisburg, Pine Grove, Lykens, Bethlehem, Palmerton and Allentown. For over fifty years, he was the house organist of the Hershey Theatre, and for many years, was the organist for the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and organist/choir director for the Lehigh Consistory in Allentown.

Jack is survived by his son, Jon, his daughter-in-law, Anita, his son-in-law, David Harding, and four grandchildren"?Miranda, Eric, Aaron and Sean.

Services: 10:00am, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Grace UCC, 623 Cleveland St., Allentown, PA. No calling hours. Arrangements by Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington, PA.

There will be a private burial of the remains at St. John's Cemetery, Pine Grove, PA.
