LaRoy D. Kern

LaRoy D. Kern, 77, of Kutztown, formerly of Walnutport, collapsed at Action Track USA in Kutztown, and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest on Sunday, June 18, 2023.   He was the husband of Margie R. (Leibenguth) Kern, whom he married October 29, 1966.    Born in Allentown on June 29, 1945, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Pauline (Snyder) Kern.   LaRoy retired from Nestle Purina as a supervisor after 40 years of service.    He was a life member of the Zinc City Motorcycle Club of Palmerton, member of the Slatington Skeet Club, and was an avid sprint car racing fan.

In addition to his wife, Margie, he will be lovingly remembered by a son: Michael Kern and longtime companion Bryana Steinmetz of Little Gap; daughter: Michelle and husband Scott Miller of Kutztown; grandchildren: Brittany, Mackenzie, Kalli, Caden; great-grandchild: Mateo David; sister: Gloria and husband Dennis Kreiss of Enola; many nieces & nephews.

 A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington.    Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM.   Interment to follow the service at Union Cemetery, Slatington.   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in LaRoy’s name to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, c/o the funeral home.
