Leo C. Pavelco, 89, of Slatington, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Eugenia M. (Bartchak) Pavelco, who passed away May 21, 2023. Born in Slatington on January 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen (Porobenski) Pavelco. Leo served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the US Army. “Augie”, as he was known to his co-workers, retired from Mack Trucks after working as a machinist for many years. Leo was a faithful parishioner of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Slatington.
A true outdoorsman, Leo found solace in the tranquility of his own yard, where he'd often be seen watching the deer graze. He was a jack-of-all-trades, known for his love of polka dancing, tinkering on endless projects, and crafting beautiful pieces with wood. When not working in his yard, he could be found at a flea market on a treasure hunt or enjoying a classic Western on the big screen.
He will be lovingly remembered by a daughter: Christine Deiter of Slatington; son: James Pavelco and wife Patricia of New Tripoli; grandchildren: Daniel Deiter and fiancé Molly Martis, James Pavelco; great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Brooklyn; brother: Paul Pavelco; sisters: Joyce Keller, Janice Pavelco. He was predeceased by siblings, John & Joseph Pavelco and Helene Kurtz.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 649 W. Washington St, Slatington.
