Leonard Chowansky

Leonard Chowansky, 90, of The Villages, Fl, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023.  He was the husband of Louise (Horn) Chowansky, whom he married August 1, 1953.   Born in Ringtown on July 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Michael and Millie Chowansky.   Leonard served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the US Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955.   He worked as a mechanic for the former Stroh’s brewery in Fogelsville for many years.  Leonard was a life member of the NRA.

In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by a daughter: Susan Mann of Slatington; son: Gary Chowansky of The Villages, FL; grandchildren: Jason, Jared, Allix; 2 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington.  Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30AM.    Interment with military honors will follow the service at Neffs Union Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the funeral home.
