Marie E. Horn Roth passed away peacefully at the age of 99 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown on February 7, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Abraham Lincoln Roth. Marie was the last survivor of the 20 children born to Clara and Alfred Horn of Rextown. Marie loved to volunteer in the community. Whether it was teaching Sunday School, being a choir mother at St. John’s Lutheran Church, or designing costumes for the high school musicals, Marie was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a co-administrator for the Second Chance Shoppe in Slatington.
She is predeceased by her son, Terry Roth and her 19 brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Burke, partner of Doug Keichel, Cathy Miller, wife of Robert Miller, granddaughter, Hannah Burke and her father Michael Burke, many nieces & nephews, and lots of “adopted children”. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her laughter, love and faith will remain in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 40 S. Second Street. Marie’s family will receive friends from 11AM to 12:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Organ Fund or Mission Support c/o St. John’s Lutheran Church, or a charity of one’s choice. Harding Funeral Home, Slatington is honored to handle Marie’s arrangements.
