Nancy Wassum

Nancy L. Wassum, 85, of Slatington passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in her home.   She was the wife of Donald C. “Fot” Wassum, who passed away in 2019 and the late Donald D. Shoemaker.  Born in Slatedale, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Helen (Hughes) Vogel.

She was a member of St. John’s UCC Church of Slatington.  Nancy was a Floor Lady at Paris Neckwear, Walnutport for many years before retiring.  She was involved in many community activities in the area.  She was a member of the Skeet Club, American Legion Post 16 and The Moose Lodge all of Slatington and participated on the Slatington Ladies Bowling League.

Nancy is survived by daughters: Pamela Shoemaker of Slatington, Bonita Wife of Daniel Parker of Buena Park, CA, Rochelle Weaver wife of Brian Haus of Allentown; step-children: Diane wife of William Fister of Slatedale, Debra wife of Michael Peters of Slatington, Donald “Bup” Wassum and wife Tami; 7 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Grandchildren; She was predeceased by children: Mark Shoemaker and Theresa Deppe.

A funeral service will be held at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington, Monday August 9, 2021 at 11AM.   Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM.   Interment to follow at Slatedale Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, 3893 Adler PI Suite 170, Bethlehem, PA  18017.
