Walnutport

Richard C. “Dick” Thomas, 77, of Walnutport, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.   He was the husband of the late Lois A. (Marsh) Thomas, who passed away in 2011.   Born in Walnutport on November 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva (Jacoby) Thomas.    Dick was a graduate of Slatington High School.   He then served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the US Navy.  He retired from the American Nickeloid in Walnutport after 35 years, working as a line supervisor.    Prior to that, he worked for J.M. Snyder in Neffs, and B Inc. of Lehighton.   Dick was an active member of Christ UCC, Walnutport, where he served on church consistory.   He was a board member of the Walnutport Water Authority and member of the Walnutport Playground Association.   Dick loved spending time with his family and enjoyed their cruises and trips to Florida.

He will be lovingly remembered by a son, Shawn R. Thomas of Walnutport, daughter-in-law: Felicia Thomas of Walnutport; grandchildren: Amber & Morgan.   He was predeceased by a son, Richard L. Thomas.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, July 24, at Slatedale Cemetery, 8648 Brown St, Slatington.   No public calling hours.    Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to Christ UCC, 309 Main St, PO Box P, Walnutport PA 18088.
