Simon C. Bandzi, 90 of Slatington passed away, Friday, March 29, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of the late Veronica R. (Papay) Bandzi. Born in Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Valechy) Bandzi. He was a Medic in the US Army in WWII, serving under General George Patton in the battle of the Bulge. Simon worked for Penn Big Bed and National School Slate for 17 years. After that, he worked as a foreman in the maintenance department for the former NJ Zinc Co retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Slatington. He enjoyed fishing in Canada with his parents and family. He was a life member of the Slatington Skeet Club.
Survivors: Sons, Simon C. Bandzi Jr. & wife Karen of Walnutport and Stephen S. Bandzi & wife Dona of Slatington, daughter, Maria A. & husband Donald Kichline of Missouri, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, sister,
Ann, wife of Stephen Szoke.of Hellertown, son in law, Edwin Q. Lehman of Slatington. Simon was pre-deceased by a daughter, Veronica R. Lehman.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, 649 W. Washington St., Slatington. Calling, 7-8:30pm, Monday, April 1, 2013 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington. Interment to follow at the Parish Cemetery.
