Sophia “Susie” Kester, 95 of Walnutport died Saturday February 14, 2015 at Blue Mountain Health System, Palmerton Campus surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Allen W. Kester, who died in 1998. Born in Palmerton, she was the daughter of the late Ilko and Anna (Wintonik) Bereziak. Sophia was a lifelong member and supporter of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Palmerton. She worked as an assembler for General Electric for 34 years before retiring in 1981. Prior to that, she worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Co. Sophia cherished her daily gathering of friends at the Walnutport McDonalds.
Survivors: Sister; Pauline Brestovansky of Mustang, OK. Niece & godchild; Frances and husband Frank Carazo of Palmerton and their daughter, Amy, and son, Marc, who was her primary caregiver for 4 years. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins. She is predeceased by sisters, Helen, Anne, Mary and brother Steve.
Services: 11am Wednesday February 18, 2015 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. Calling hour 10-11 am the funeral home. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
