Verna L. Smith

Verna L. Smith, 99, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, 15 days shy of her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Martin Gutekunst and Charles Smith. Born in Allentown on January 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Carrie (Ebert) Nagle. Verna worked many years for the former Corby’s in the soldering department. Prior to that, she worked briefly for the former Hess’ in Allentown. 

Verna will be lovingly remembered by her children; Linda Garner, Martin Gutekunst; She was pre-deceased by a daughter Karen Schoenberger. Verna is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
