Vincent C. Burke, 96, of Schnecksville, formerly of Slatington, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Lorna G. (Becker) Burke. Born on April 26, 1922, in Walnutport, he was the son of the late James and Marian (Kennell) Burke. Vince served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army/ Air Force during WWII. He worked as a senior staff accountant from 1941-1982 for the former Bethlehem Steel. Vince was a member of St. John’s UCC, Slatington, he was former church treasurer and choir member for many years. He was also a member of the Slatington Masonic Lodge 440 F&AM, Lehigh Consistory, past president of the Union Cemetery Board and a 75 year member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington.
He is survived by sons: Terry Burke and companion Sharon Spadoni of Wilson, Michael Burke and companion Ellen Mocarsky of Breinigsville; Daughters: Colleen Burke, Sharon Acampora both of Allentown; Grandchildren: Justin Burke and wife Dawn, Hannah Burke; Great-Grandchildren: Olivia & Aidan Burke. He was pre-deceased by a brother Leo Burke.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at St. John’s UCC, 15 S. Second St, Slatington. No calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s UCC General Fund.
