Walter Kern

Walter H. "Sonny"쳌 Kern, of Emerald died Wednesday January 23, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Frederick) Kern. Born in Walnutport, he was the son of the late Harvey and Katie ( Marsh) Kern. Sonny worked in the changeover department at Mack Trucks, retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he worked for the Keystone Lamp Factory and the Bethlehem Steel. Sonny was a lifetime member of the Emerald Fire Co, a member of the Slatington Skeet Club, and the Diamond Fire Co. Walnutport, and also a member of the Grundsau Lodsch Nummer 18.

Survivors: Wife, Son; Bryon Kern and wife Suzanne of Emerald. Daughter; Bridget Kern of Emerald. Grandchildren; Scott, Ryan, and Jared Kern, and Katie Otero. Great Grandchildren; Samantha, Aaron, Arariel, Leyla, Zoey, Porter, and Wyatt Kern. Sisters; Jeanette Krause, Arvilla Peters, and Delphine Hoch. He was pre-deceased by a son Bradley, and a sister Nadine Gerhardt.

Services: 11AM Tuesday January 29 Harding Funeral Home 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Calling hour 10-11AM at the funeral home.
