William Kappes

William J. Kappes, 93 formerly of Allentown, died Saturday February 15, 2014 in Praxis Nursing Home, Easton. He was the husband of the late Lillian M. (Miller) Kappes, who died in 2010. Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late William and Louise (Kern) Kappes. William was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps serving in WWII. He retired from MW Wood Catering as a wholesale delivery. Prior to that he worked for Lehigh Valley Dairy and was self employed, both working in retail delivery. William was a member of the First Baptist Church, Allentown.

Survivors: Son; W. Scott Kappes and wife Terry of Catasauqua. Grandchildren; Joshua and wife Jenna, Jared and wife Jessica, and Jeremy and wife Jennifer. Great Grandchildren; Katelyn Faith, Samuel Lucas, Kaylee Patricia and soon to be Mackenzie Mae.. Sister Trudy McGonigle of Allentown. William was pre-deceased by a daughter Patricia Ann Kappes, and by by borthers Gene, Leo, Francis, Augustine, and Vincent Kappes, and by sisters Angela Brothers, Marcy Deutsch, Louise Swan, and Helen Deibert.

Services: 7pm Thursday February 20, 2014 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington PA. Calling hour 6-7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington.
