Janet Shankweiler

Janet M. (Weaver) Shankweiler, 59, of Macungie, formerly of Walnutport passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family.   Born in Allentown on January 14, 1963, she was the daughter of Doris (Person) Weaver and the late Paul Weaver.   Janet was employed as an executive administrative assistant for East Penn Manufacturing.   Prior to that, she worked many years for Paris Accessories.   Jan enjoyed the outdoors, including kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking and gardening.   She loved spending time at the beach with her family, doing yoga, and her special time with her grandchildren.   Living a healthy lifestyle was always a priority.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters: Jessica Rex of Slatington, Lauren and husband Jamie Scanlon of Schnecksville, Katherine Rex of Palmerton; grandchildren: Stella & Tessa Scanlon, Gianna & Isabella Marrone; sister: Carol Weaver and husband Raymond Bartholomew; former spouse: Kevin Rex; friend: Glenn Williams.  She was predeceased by a brother Bruce Weaver.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington.  Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM.  Contributions in Janet’s name can be made to either Walnutport Canal Association or the Allentown Rescue Mission, both c/o the funeral home.
